At CRIS – or the Center for Research on Ingredient Safety – assessing health risk is always on our minds. But what do we mean by a “health risk”?

Risk, according to Andrew Maynard, is the “probability of a specific loss of worth occurring”. So for a health risk, worth is our health and well-being, and a loss of worth is a negative impact on our health.
